STANDOLIZED LINSEED OIL
CAS Number:
67746-08-1
Flaxseed oil is obtained from the seed of the flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) a plant grown mainly in Canada and increasingly in Eastern Europe. The oil content in the seed is 35-45%.
The process to produce the oil consists of heating refined linseed oil at high temperatures (near 300 ° C) under conditions that exclude oxygen. Stand oil may have multiple viscosities (from 2 to more than 450 poises). Its high content of linolenic fatty acid makes it a siccative oil that after its polymerization gives a high level of resistance to the final product.
Stand oils have greater elasticity than non stand oils. Used in the formulation for the manufacturer of paints, resins, inks.
