SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE SLS
Other name: Sodium dodecyl sulfate – SDS
Obtained by treating lauryl alcohol obtained from palm kernel oil or coconut oil with sulfur trioxide and then neutralized with sodium carbonate.
Classified as anionic surfactant.
It is used as an aqueous solution. SLS concentration from 25 to 100%.
At 25 ºC is a yellowish opaque liquid with characteristic odor with melting of about 13-21 ºC.
Industrial uses: washing & cleaning products, coating products, plant protection products, adhesives and sealants, fillers, putties, plasters, modelling clay, air care products, polishes and waxes
Cosmetic uses: cleansing, denaturant, foaming, surfactant-cleansing. Toothpaste.
